Casting and local network access

Hi, I am using VPN Client Pro in my Android TV box using Wireguard. However, when VPN is enabled, I am unable to cast anything to the device and access my local network. I have excluded my local IP but it's still not working. With VPN disabled everything works just fine.

To test out if it's a settings problem, I installed the app in my phone using the exact same profile from the android box and tried to cast to my Android TV (with VPN disabled) and it works fine. Local network access is also working so I think I have excluded the local IP correctly.

My question is, is there a setting to connect my android tv box to my local network with VPN enabled? Casting and NAS access are both restricted when I have VPN enabled, but the NAS part has an easy workaround by excluding my file manager app.

Hello,

can you check if there are any differences between the phone and the TV in the routes shown in the "Routing" TAB of the VPN profile status?
Routes are only shown while the VPN is connected...

There is no option to export the routing tab, so I exported the Log tab instead which shows similar IPs. I think they are exactly the same.

If it helps, my config is from the default Wireguard app, there is an option in there to exclude private IPs, I have it enabled and automatically excludes this on the list.

Perhaps the problem is due to the IPv6 route "::/0".
It has happened in the past that some devices did not handle this route correctly.
If you are not using the IPv6 protocol, you can try these steps:
  • Select "Block unconfigured IPv4/IPv6 protocol" option in Global options/VPN options
  • Edit the VPN profile, remove the route "::/0" and any IPv6 address used in the configuration
